In partnership with Media Molecule, Girls Make Games will host workshops in Guildford and London this April

RALEIGH, NC, March 7, 2019 — As part of its continued effort to increase gender diversity in the gaming industry, Girls Make Games (GMG) is joining forces with Media Molecule and PlayStation ® to host its first ever UK workshops.

“We’re thrilled to bring GMG to the UK in partnership with Media Molecule, a game studio headed by a female developer and role model to girls everywhere, Siobhan Reddy. Our aim is to inspire girls to unlock their inner creativity through the creation tools provided by Media Molecule’s upcoming title, Dreams. I can’t wait to see their amazing creations come to life!” shared Laila Shabir, CEO and co-founder of Girls Make Games.

“Dreams presents us with an incredible opportunity to support, inspire and educate an up-and-coming generation of game creators. It’s been our goal for a long time to partner with Girls Makes Games and we’re thrilled to be a part of welcoming their program to the UK.” added Siobhan Reddy, co-founder and studio director of Media Molecule.

During the UK workshops, which will take place April 9–12, girls between ages of 10 and 14 will learn how to design and create their own games in Dreams, Media Molecule’s upcoming creation game for PlayStation 4

“We’re incredibly grateful to PlayStation for their support of the program and helping us reach girls the world over. A handful of workshops may not change the status quo overnight, but in time, persistent efforts around the world will most certainly change the narrative that games and game-making are for everyone,” continued Shabir.
